Providing Information - Not Hype - About HIV

More than two decades have passed since the initial mainstream news about HIV and AIDS hit headlines in America, but much has changed on the news and information front during that time - and hysteria has been replaced by action and education.

Tobin Communications, Inc., along with Fleishman-Hillard client Abbott Labs, the AIDS Network of New York and AIDS activist Andy Kiener, has been part of that positive shift.

While the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has been relentless in releasing statistics about AIDS and HIV infection, health organizations also want people to know that there is hope for a healthier tomorrow because of early diagnosis and the promise of new antiretroviral drug regimens.

During several public-information radio campaigns headed by TCI, Kiener (accidentally infected by a needle stick while caring for an AIDS patient in the early '90s) shared his experiences and spoke about how safer, more tolerable drugs are letting him control the virus, versus the virus controlling him. TCI helped Kiener relay a message of survival that also provided the very latest information on HIV care.
