4-H For Youth DevelopmentFor Tobin Communications, Inc., the work we do with non-profits is just as important as the work we do for corporations. Just consider the opportunity we were given to work with one of the mainstay and highly respected youth organizations in the world - 4-H - and the chance we gave the sometimes-slandered youth of today to have a voice. 4-H is an Edelman Public Relations Worldwide client. As part of the National 4-H Council's commemoration of its 100th anniversary, we invited radio journalists to get the scoop on a national report that highlighted ways to foster a positive future for America's youth. Based on input from more than 1,600 community forums and including insight from 50,000 youth and adults, "The National Conversation on Youth Development in the 21st Century" was one of the first unbiased snapshots of what today's youth need to thrive - not just survive. Dozens of radio reporters across the U.S. spoke about this watershed issue in interviews with National 4-H Council President and CEO Don Floyd, who reminded that: "too often, youth policy has flowed from ivory towers." Instead, Floyd said, that organizations, corporations and government working together to improve communities is a surer step in the fight for empowered and powerful kids. |
